This module introduces learners to two important areas of mathematical literacy: working with data and understanding shapes in space. First, learners explore how probability and statistics help us interpret data and make informed decisions in everyday life. Then, they’ll shift to geometry, learning how to calculate and represent motion, volume, and shape — all within real-world contexts like packaging, transport, and construction. By the end of this module, learners will have the practical skills to collect, organize, interpret, and present information visually and mathematically — building critical thinking and numeracy for work and life.

Foundations of Communication
This module focuses on strengthening communication skills in workplace and learning environments. Learners will explore both written and spoken communication styles, with emphasis on understanding instructions, using appropriate language in professional settings, and engaging in oral communication. By developing these skills, learners improve their ability to participate in learning programmes, workplace meetings, discussions, presentations, and team collaboration. This module sets the stage for effective communication across all future workplace learning and job functions.

Writing & Reporting in the Workplace
This module focuses on developing essential workplace communication skills with an emphasis on reading comprehension, professional writing, and audience-appropriate communication. Learners will engage with a variety of common workplace documents such as reports, instructions, memos, forms, and emails — with the goal of writing and interpreting them accurately and professionally. The module strengthens both reading and writing skills, laying the foundation for effective reporting and administrative performance.

Business Communication & Language
This module focuses on developing formal writing skills for a professional business environment. Learners will master the writing process — from planning to drafting and finalizing documents. They will explore different types of business communication including emails, reports, memos, and meeting minutes. Clear, accurate, and audience-specific writing is essential in any modern workplace, and this module provides the foundation for learners to express themselves effectively in formal written communication.

Information Management & Office Systems
This module provides learners with an introduction to managing information in the workplace through administrative processes, education structures, and employee wellness awareness. It also introduces key knowledge areas like HIV/AIDS workplace impact and outcomes-based learning (OBL) within South Africa's national training system. By the end of this module, learners will understand how to manage office-related data, apply OBL principles, and support an informed, healthy work environment.

Customer Service & Professional Interaction
This module equips learners with two essential workplace skills: time management and budget planning. Learners will explore practical tools for organizing their time, managing priorities, and boosting daily productivity while maintaining work-life balance. They will also gain foundational budgeting knowledge applicable to personal life and business environments. Together, these skills form a critical foundation for delivering professional service, staying accountable, and making financially sound decisions in the workplace.

Workplace Problem Solving & Teamwork
his module develops essential workplace soft skills including problem-solving, collaboration, and customer service through visitor management. Learners will build the ability to work in teams, resolve real-life problems using structured thinking, and handle workplace interactions professionally. These outcomes enhance team effectiveness, professional relationships, and service delivery — all of which are essential to a functional and customer-focused workplace.

Health, Safety & Workplace Environment
This module builds awareness around environmental issues and workplace safety. It empowers learners with knowledge of sustainable development, environmental legislation, and the ethical responsibilities of businesses in preserving the environment. By the end of this module, learners will understand how to contribute to safe, environmentally conscious workplaces by applying both legal knowledge and sustainability practices.

Business Operations & Technology
This module introduces learners to key operational tools in business — including performance evaluation, workplace context analysis, and continuous improvement strategies. Focus is placed on learning delivery, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and the systems that support workplace training and decision-making. By the end of this module, learners will be able to assess the quality and effectiveness of work outputs, understand business sector dynamics, and interpret feedback for improvement in real-time operational settings.

Revision, Assessment & PoE Compilation
This final module serves as a consolidation and wrap-up of the 12-month learning programme.
